Personal portrait
An individual portrait conveys not only the identity of a depicted person but the identity of the personality of an artist. Such a symbiosis helps to achieve amazing results.
There are many different kinds of a portrait. Individual and group portraits, a portrait in the interior, a portrait against a background of a landscape or architectural edifices are among them.
According to the character of depiction the portraits are distinguished as ceremonial and chamber portraits. As a rule, a ceremonial portrait depicts a person to his full height (standing, sitting or on the horse) - a full- length portrait. The half-length, breast-length or shoulder-length depictions are used for painting the chamber portraits. On the ceremonial portraits a person is depicted against a background of a landscape or architectural edifices and on the chamber portrait - against a neutral background.
According to quantity of people depicted on canvas the portraits are distinguished as individual, paired and group portraits. The paired portraits are the portraits painted on different canvases but conjoint by the same composition, shape or color. Most frequently these are the portraits of a married couple.
The portrait that depicts a person as a mythical, historical or allegorical personage is called a fancy-dress portrait. As usual the names of such portraits include a word combination "in the image of". We can also discern a self- portrait – reference of an artist to his personality.
A personal (individual) portrait commissioned by you can be executed in any style that is stated above. It just depends on your taste and wishes.
